March 6

Good evening! We are finishing up Unit 4 in Language Arts this week. We will take our Unit 4 LA Skills Test on Monday and Tuesday, and our Word Wall Test will be on Wednesday, March 12.

In Language Arts next week we will focus on identifying the main idea of a text and spelling multisyllabic words. The students have learned that when they get stuck on spelling a word when they write that they should clap it out into syllables. Then they should spell each syllable they hear. They are also reminded that every syllable gets a vowel. Please encourage your child to clap out words they have difficulty spelling as this will help them become more independent writers.

In Math we will continue our unit on measurement.

In Science the students will be learning about motion.

Good afternoon! In Language Arts this week, we will focus on making judgments about story characters, adverbs, and spelling words with -aw and -ough. We will have our Unit 8 Math Test on Tuesday if we have school tomorrow. It will be Wednesday if we aren't in school due to Mother Nature tomorrow.

We will begin studying matter in Science.

Please remember that book reports and reading logs are due tomorrow!

February 21

Good morning! Next week in Language Arts we will be focusing on identifying plot, spelling and reading words with silent kn- and -mb, and identifying adjectives. In Math, we will continue to focus on fractions, and in Social Studies we will continue to learn about our country's past.

Our Social Studies test will be on Thursday, February 27, Keep studying the study guide.

February 18

Good afternoon and welcome back! We did take our Unit 7 Math Test today. We will continue with the same Language Arts story and spelling words as last week. The only homework that students will have for Language Arts is to study for their test they will take on Friday.

We will begin our fractions unit in Math tomorrow. There will be Math homework tomorrow and Thursday.

We just started our Social Studies unit, and we completed the second lesson today. We do not have a date for the test yet. Keep checking the blog for updates!
