Good afternoon! This summer certainly went by fast! I am so excited to start the new school year next week, and I look forward to working with you and your child to make it a successful year. There are a few things to keep in mind for the first day of school. The most important thing is that we don't eat lunch until 1:05 this year. It is important that students eat a healthy breakfast and bring a substantial snack to get through to this time. We will have snack every day at 10:00.
We are scheduled to have gym on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. One of these days will be Family Life. Please have your child wear sneakers (or bring them to school in their backpack if they are wearing fancy shoes) these days.
Finally, your child will have a reading log and book report form in their folder on the first day of school. Please keep the reading log in a safe place as it is for the entire school year. The directions on how to fill it out will be on it. Each month a book report will be due. The book report and instructions will be sent home at the beginning of each month. The reading log and book report are both due the first school day of each month, and they are both graded.
If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me at jsaxton@oxfordcentral.org or 453-4101. Email is always the best way as I check it multiple times a day.
Have a great rest of the week! See you on September 3!

Good afternoon. This week is 2nd grade district testing. Please be sure that your child is here on time since we start right away. Also, please be sure they get plenty of sleep and eat a healthy breakfast so that they are awake and alert during the test. Since we are taking our tests this week, there will not be any homework given. We are working on reading chapter books in our reading groups. In Math we will be reviewing subtracting with regrouping. We will be doing a Reader's Theater in Social Studies about the seven continents and being truthful when you find something that isn't yours.
Have a great week!
