October 26

This week students will be finishing their assigned novels along with their research papers. Research papers will be typed in class on Thursday. The projects that the students chose (the list is on the front of their reading packet) are due on Wednesday, November 3. The following is this week's homework if the students do not finish in class:

Tuesday
*Read chapters 12-14 in Bud, Not Buddy and chapters 9-10 in Missing May. Students should be responding to their Lit Log question or answering comprehension questions that are in their packets.
*Grammar page 37 (possessive nouns)
*Spelling page 30

Wednesday
*Read chapters 15-17 in Bud, Not Buddy and chapters 11-12 in Missing May. See above reading assignments.
*Grammar page 38
*Spelling 32

Thursday
*Read chapters 18-19 in Bud, Not Buddy. Students reading Missing May should complete the crossword puzzle.
*Grammar page 39
*Study for vocabulary test

Good evening! Please remind the students that their rough drafts of their 1930's research reports are due on Friday. The draft can be typed or hand written. The following is tonight's homework:

Finish defining vocabulary
Finish chapter 6 and complete Lit Log (Bud, Not Buddy)

Grammar p. 32
Spelling p. 27

Tonight's homework is as follows:

Complete Lit Log (Bud, Not Buddy) and comprehension questions (Missing May).
Continue to keep a reading log (a short summary of the chapters that were read)
Spelling p. 26
Outlines for research papers are due tomorrow if not finished in class today!
Rough draft of research paper is due Friday. Students will have tomorrow and Thursday to write in class. Students must finish at home if their writing is not complete.

Week of October 12

Good evening! The students will be completing Unit 1 Skills and Benchmark Tests this week. Though they will not be reading from Scott Foresman, the class will still have a spelling test on Friday. A typed copy of the words were sent home today with them so that they can complete their homework for the week. The following is this week's homework:



Tuesday: ABC order, finish "An Interesting Job" story if not completed already

Wednesday: 5 x's each (only those words that were misspelled on the pretest need to be written)

Thursday: Use at least 10 words in a paragraph.

Friday: Study all Unit 1 vocabulary words. There will be a Word Wall test on Tuesday, October 19.
