***We will go to the Book Fair on Tuesday, October 4. If you'd like your child to buy books, please send money in with them on this day.

***Spirit Day is Tuesday, October 4. Wear your pajamas or blue and gold. Students should wear sneakers.

Monday-3 times each, Math sheet 2.4
Tuesday-ABC order, Math sheet 2.5
Wednesday-Sentences, Math sheet 2.6
Thursday-Study for Spelling Test, Math sheet 2.7

*We will begin our first Science unit on Monday.

Week of September 26

We will work on the following next week:

Language Arts-author's purpose, writing narratives, long a and i words, and types of sentences

Math-We will review for our test on Monday. The only Math homework for Monday will be to study for the test that is on Tuesday. No Math homework on Tuesday! We will then move into chapter two.

Social Studies-We will have our first test on Thursday, September 29. Continue to look over the study guide.

Thursday-Study for Spelling Test, Math sheet 3.2

Be sure to have your child study the Word Wall words that come home on Tuesdays for the sentence dictation portion of their Spelling Test.

Week of September 19

*Picture Day is Tuesday, September 20!

We will work on the following next week:

Language Arts-We will spell words with short o, u, and e, writing simple sentences, writing friendly letters, and comparing and contrasting.

Math-We will learn how to write numbers different ways, solving number stories, skip counting within 100 and 1000. We will complete our first review for Chapter 1's test on Friday. Chapter 1 test will be on September 27.

Social Studies-We will continue to learn about communities. Our test will be September 29.

Week of September 12

We had a great first week in 2S! All important dates, assignments, and skills we will work on for the following week can be found here. I blog every Friday.

*Back To School Night is Tuesday, September 13 at 6:00. I can't wait to meet everyone!

We will work on the following skills next week:
Language Arts- spelling short a and i words, subjects and predicates in sentences, writing narratives
Math-We will begin our first unit on addition.
Social Studies-Monday we will learn about Patriots Day, Tuesday-Thursday we will focus on different types of communities, and Friday we will learn about Constitution Day.

Students have homework Monday-Thursday. Next week's homework schedule is as follows:

Monday-Write every spelling word, including bonuses, three times each. Complete Math sheet 1.1.
Tuesday-Write spelling words in ABC order, complete Math sheet 1.2
Wednesday-Use every spelling word in a sentence. Spelling words should be underlined. Each sentence should have at least 5 words and include  capitals and ending marks. Complete Math sheet 1.3.
Thursday-Study for Friday's Spelling Test and complete Math sheet 1.4.

Make sure your child studies their Word Wall Words for the week. I will be giving sentence dictation on this year's spelling tests using at least 4 of the Word Wall Words.

Keep working on those book reports. They are due October 3.
