Good evening! The students will be completing Unit 1 Skills and Benchmark Tests this week. Though they will not be reading from Scott Foresman, the class will still have a spelling test on Friday. A typed copy of the words were sent home today with them so that they can complete their homework for the week. The following is this week's homework:



Tuesday: ABC order, finish "An Interesting Job" story if not completed already

Wednesday: 5 x's each (only those words that were misspelled on the pretest need to be written)

Thursday: Use at least 10 words in a paragraph.

Friday: Study all Unit 1 vocabulary words. There will be a Word Wall test on Tuesday, October 19.

Good evening! Students have been reading the story "Teammates" this week. They are learning about the prejudice Jackie Robinson faced when he played baseball and how Pee Wee Reece stood by him. The students really enjoyed seeing the two players' original baseball cards from 1951, along with Mickey Mantle's and Roberto Clemente's.

Welcome back! It was so nice to see all the students' smiling faces today. Each week I will be updating my blog with homework assignments and other important information. The only homework students have this week is to return their signed "classroom policies" sheet by Friday, September 3.
Next week we will begin working with our Scott Foresman series. Students will read a specific story and have a vocabulary test on Thursdays and a selection and spelling test on Fridays. We read 3 stories from the Scott Foresman (3 weeks) and then we read a novel for 3 weeks.

Good afternoon! Next week student's will be finishing their M.A.R.E. travel brochures, along with their "Gift of Age" projects. The "Gift of Age" project will be the 6th grade's quarterly assessment for Language Arts.

Good evening! I hope everyone enjoyed their mini vacation last week! We have started Unit 4 in our Scott Foresman series. Tomorrow is Friday which means spelling, selection, and vocabulary tests. Students will also continue to work on their letters in which they try to persuade you (the parents/guardians) to allow them to do/have something that they currently can not. They will be due on Monday. The letters should be typed or written neatly in blue or black ink. Thank you for your cooperation in this assignment, it is truly appreciated. Good evening! Students will be taking the Unit 2 Benchmark and Skills Tests next week on Tuesday and Wednesday. These tests will assess concepts taught in the past month. Students have also been focusing on persuasive writing. They will receive a prompt for My Access on Friday. We will be in the computer lab typing responses on Tuesday and Friday. These writing scores will be shown on the following week's grade sheet.
